Formal Attire – Kids and Mustaches Welcome - Ladies Don’t Wear Black
Story Time
We first met in 2013 while attending Chico State. Yaseen lived in an apartment downstairs, and Alondra lived upstairs. At the time, Alondra and her roommates hadn’t set up their WiFi yet, so she and one of her roommates decided to knock on a random door downstairs to borrow some internet. It happened to be Yaseen’s apartment. Yaseen’s roommate, Omar, kindly opened the door and shared their WiFi password. A few hours later, after struggling with a spotty connection, a shirtless guy (cringe) appeared at their door. It was Yaseen himself. He informed them that he had changed the WiFi password because, if he had to pay for WiFi, then everyone had to pay for WiFi. He definitely wasn’t a simp. Needless to say, it was an unforgettable first encounter!
Who made the first move? How?
Yaseen: When I first saw Alondra, I thought she was cute, but I wasn't sure if she was wifey material. After all, most women at Chico State aren't the kind you'd bring home to mom. But one day, I saw her studying all alone on a bench at our apartment complex... that's when I realized she had beauty and brains. It was time to pull out my favorite move: rip my shirt off (cringe). But I still needed an excuse to go outside... so I decided to collect some garbage around my apartment and take out the trash. On my way back to my apartment, I casually stopped by the bench and started talking to her. After getting the digits, I went on my way... the rest is history.
What was the most memorable trip you have taken together?
Alondra: Our second trip to Reno was absolutely unforgettable. Yaseen planned the getaway to help me relive my 21st birthday experience, which was also in Reno. What I didn't know was that he had a huge surprise waiting for me. He secretly booked two hotel rooms as part of his plan. The first room, the one I knew about, was where we were staying to celebrate his 31st birthday. But a few days before our trip, Yaseen had actually driven up to Reno alone to prepare the second room with the surprise of a lifetime. We started the trip by partying and celebrating his 31st birthday together, having the time of our lives. We danced, drank, and sang along to our favorite songs. At the peak of our excitement, Yaseen led me to the second hotel room. He asked me to wait outside while he added the finishing touches. I thought he was being a little suspicious. A few minutes later, he gave me the "go" to come in. When I stepped inside, I was completely blown away. The room was decorated with glowing candles all over the room, scattered rose petals, balloons, and a sign that said "All I want for my birthday is you!" At the far end of the room, Yaseen was down on one knee (he had a shirt on this time lol), holding the engagement ring of my dreams. I was in complete shock. I cried and asked him a million times if he was serious. It was the happiest moment of our lives.
